Jobshop UK Consultant, Helen Wright, To Run Bournemouth Marathon For Montacute School

Recruitment consultant, Helen Wright of Jobshop UK in Bournemouth, will be putting months of hard work and training into practice on the 7 October, when she takes part in the Bournemouth Marathon to raise funds for the company's chosen charity, Montacute School, Poole.

Helen, who goes by the job title, 'Creator of Opportunities' at the recruitment specialists, has set her sights high, aiming to raise £1500 for Montacute; a specialist school for 86 young people with complex learning difficulties or disabilities. The school is hoping Helen's efforts will raise enough in sponsorship money to buy and kit out a mud kitchen; an exciting part of the children's outdoor education and play.

I certainly wouldn't describe myself as a runner, so this is a real challenge for me. Knowing that the school and children are relying on me to succeed in order to raise the money is the incentive that gets me training after a hard day at work, or at the weekend when a lie-in would be welcome - and I hope that incentive will keep me going for the whole gruelling 26 miles on the day itself.

The training has been very tough, but I'm focusing on pacing myself and getting around in 5 and a half hours – and I'll have the faces of all the children willing me to the finish line to keep me going!

We are overwhelmed that Helen is taking on this remarkable challenge for us. The forest school outdoor curriculum is especially important for children with complex special needs. Not only does it help to improve their physical and fine motor skills, but it is also an excellent way of supporting their emotional well-being. We all know how good it is to get outside and enjoy fresh air, and that's no different for our children at Montacute who thrive on being able to get messy and have fun outdoors.
