Candidate Hub Temp Support

At Jobshop we have been providing temporary support for over 20 years.

Temporary work allows you to work and earn money whilst you look for something permanent, you decide on your next career move or to fit in with your lifestyle.

You choose how long you want to work for (although there’s always more choice of roles if you are available for a few months rather than just a few weeks) and whether you want to work full or part-time, remotely or within an office.

We will tell you honestly what work we have and how we can help you.   We can provide additional insight into the company, the manager and the role.

We understand the support that you may need if you are new to Temping or at any time when you are temping.  We will explain the process and make it as easy as possible.

You will need to provide ID (Passport and driving licence) and proof of your address

We will take up references spanning the last 2 years.

Most of the roles we fill require MS Office experience, Word, Excel, Outlook etc and we will need to test your skills.

If you are interested in a role we tell you about we will submit your CV along with a personal profile t the client.  If the client is interested they are most likely to want to interview you first and this will either be a remote video interview or in person.

If you are successful we will send you a confirmation email with all the information you need to start your role.

Once you are temping you will complete a timesheet each week and you will be paid the following week for the work you have completed.

It’s always worth remembering: The hourly rate you are paid are for the skills you use in the role not all the skills you have.

We promise:

  • We will never put you forward for a role that we haven’t discussed with you first.
  • We will provide you with full details of the job role before you accept.
  • You will know what your pay rate is and how holiday pay works
  • We provide you with a temporary handbook that answers all of your questions as a temp but if there is anything that isn’t clear we are always on hand to help you.
  • We run our payroll in-house, so if there is any issue with your pay, we can rectify it for you very quickly.
  • We are members of the REC (recruitment and Employment Confederation) so we work to the principles they outline.
  • So if you want to know more, call us now on 01202 674488

How to survive your first day when you are a temp

The first day in a new job can be nerve wracking.

In a new workplace you can easily feel as though everyone’s watching you as you jam the photocopier or get lost again!

Everything will be new to you – the layout of the office, the computer systems, where to go and who’s who.

This guide is to help you feel more prepared and comfortable in your new role.

  1. Choose clothes that are more conservative than you might usually wear. It’s better to feel that you are dressed too formally than appear to be too casual. You never get a second chance to create a first impression.
  2. Make sure you arrive ten minutes early. Don’t be tempted to arrive too early as people may not be ready for you but don’t be late either.
  3. Keep your mobile switched off while you are at work.
  4. Do not use the internet unless, of course, you have been specifically asked to find some information for work purposes.
  5. If you are feeling unwell and will not be able to work, please telephone Jobshop UK on 01202 674488 before 9.00am. Please also give us an update before 4.30pm if you are still not well enough to return to work and we will notify the client.
  6. Don’t get involved in gossip. It may be tempting because you want to be included but it’s not a good idea.
  7. Always ask for work to do but accept that your colleagues are busy too and may not always have the time to explain things to you.
  8. Finally, relax and smile! Everyone is shy with strangers, even people who have been with a company for many years. Think about putting other people at their ease and the rest will follow naturally.
