Candidate Hub Remote Working

Remote working does have its positives and can allow a degree of flexibility we didn’t have before. We might have a little more time in the morning for some exercise/yoga etc during the time we would have been travelling to work.

Interestingly, the desire for flexibility in a role was the most popular career aspiration in light of the pandemic.

We thought it would be helpful to provide you with some tips to make remote working more comfortable for you.

  1. Try and create a space that is just for working, even if it’s a corner of your bedroom and ideally find a way that you can pack away your computer/work or just throw a cloth over it.  This will help to define the start and end to your day.
  2. Keep to a routine in the morning and get dressed for work.
  3. Make sure you take breaks, even if it’s just to walk around the block or stop for 15 minutes for yoga/cup of coffee etc – everyone needs a break.
  4. Make time for a video group chat with your team.  It is more important than ever to take care of your own mental health when you are working remotely as you might feel more isolated than normal.
  5. If you feel you need help, schedule one-to-one time for a video chat and a coffee with your manager.  Tell your manager how you are doing and how you are feeling.  If there is something you are struggling with or need guidance/training on tell your manager instead of worrying about it or stewing over it.
  6. Ask for feedback as to how you are performing, areas where you are doing well and where you could improve.
