Bournemouth based recruitment specialists, Jobshop UK, has presented the children of Montacute School, Poole, with the gift of a specialist swing after raising over £15,000 for the school by holding a charity Grande Masquerade Ball.
The school, which looks after 85 young people with complex learning difficulties or disabilities, was completely rebuilt in 2015, but, after having its original budget slashed from £12 million to £5 million, there were no funds left to kit the school out with essential equipment.
Lin Creswell, therapies co-ordinator at Montacute School, commented: "We are so happy with our new swings, and the pupils have been squealing with delight and signing for more. “We have been using them at PE and playtime, and for some of our wheelchair users this bespoke equipment means they can play alongside their peers for the first time."
Frances Miles, director at Jobshop UK, explained: “It was really touching seeing the joy on the face of the little boy in a wheelchair who was able to enjoy the swing; something that he previously couldn’t have done without the specialist swing equipment. He was laughing and giggling and signing for more, more, more! It brought to life the simple pleasure that all kids derive from playing on a swing. We were overwhelmed with the generosity shown by our guests at our charity ball, who helped us exceed our target, and we can see quite clearly now how vital this outside equipment is for all the pupils at Montacute. Montacute School is the Jobshop UK lifetime charity and we look forward to helping this exceptional school through our fundraising efforts in the future.”
